Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15
Did you ever sing the song “the B-I-B-L-E, yes that’s the book for me…” when you were a kid?
The last part of the song says, “I stand alone on the word of God, the B-I-B-L-E”.
And if you think about it, that’s really what it comes down to. God gave us the Bible to be our guide and to help us discern right from wrong. It is always important to pray before beginning a Bible study session. 💕
All of the content on this site is based on several assumptions:
- God is the Creator of our world, which He completed in 6 literal days, after which He rested on the 7th day (See Genesis 1-2:3)
- Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for sin–once for ALL (see Hebrews 7:24-27), and by faith we accept His righteousness (see Romans 3:21-31).
- The Bible was inspired by God and written for our instruction (see 2 Timothy 3:16-17). I personally recommend the KJV version for serious study.
- The Bible is the foundation of our beliefs as Christians (see 1 Corinthians 3:11, and Matthew 7:24-27).
- God is the embodiment of love, and even if we do not understand why bad things happen on this sinful planet, we need to trust that everything that God allows will work out for our best interest eternally (see 1 John 4:7-21, and Romans 8:28-39).
- We are in a spiritual battle between the forces of good and evil (see Ephesians 6:12).
- We cannot understand the mysteries of the Bible unless we also have the guidance of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 2:14).
- Based on Bible prophecy (the books of Daniel and Revelation, specifically) we know that Jesus is coming again soon! This is the blessed hope that we look forward to.
With these things in mind, I hope you will prayerfully join me in studying the Bible. As you read through the devotional thoughts on this site you will notice that I have include the Bible text where I get my information from and a link to the verse itself. Please click on the links that you see scattered throughout the text for a more interactive Bible study. They will bring up a new page that shows the Bible text I’m referring to in its original form, and hopefully give you a better understanding of where I got the idea from when I am making claims.
Don’t just take my word for any of this though. Grab your Bible and dig into the Word for yourself! For a deeper understanding read the whole chapter where the verse is taken from, or at least several verses on either side of the verse. The Bible was meant to be read as a whole, not cherry-picked here and there!
I hope you are blessed through these studies. 💕
